New ways to increase traffic to your online pressroom
So if you're trying to move messages through the media, the need for an online newsroom is old news, right? You know you need to designate a section of your website for reporters and other members of the media so they can get the information they need when they're working on a story.
But are you frequently adding new and fresh content, whether it's breaking news or an update that you can post to your blog? Are you adding multi-media content that will boost your story -- things like photos, video, and podcasts? If you want to catch a reporter's eye and keep them coming back to your website again and again when they need credible content, you need to keep the content coming.
Another updated way to think about your newsroom is that you can no longer just broadcast out information. Your newsroom should be set up to listen as well through comments to your blog and user ratings of your content. Make sure your site visitors can easily share your content with their friends and networks.
Opening your site to comments does open you up to spammers. But just add a simple CAPTCHA verification system that requires the commenter to type in a security code. This will help to keep your site safe from spam bots and unwanted advertisements in comments. Test ours out by leaving a comment and sharing your online newsroom tips.
The folks at iPressroom do a great job at highlighting some of the above tips as well as others in their latest guide.
