Make Your Website Better with Pictures
Mar16

One way to make your website more approachable and enjoyable to read is to add pictures. No one wants to look at a website that is blocks of texts. If you have your own pictures then add them to your website or blog. These pictures can be of the river you are fighting to protect or of the donors that attended last year’s gala. However, if you don't have the perfect picture, you don’t need to spend a fortune getting it.

There are a few of places online where you can get high quality, free pictures. I am referring to public domain images. One place to find these images is on Wikipedia. Visit this link to search for pictures. Once you find a picture that you want to use add it to your website. Make sure to follow the lisencing information, found below the picture. The lisencing information tells you how to properlly attribute the photograph.

Other places to look for photographs are US Government photo libraries and Flikr: Creative Commons.

Visuals are great.

Visuals are great.  Consider embedding video & audio as well, particularly if you're loading content into your online newsroom.  You'll increase your changes of news coverage if you provide visuals and other supporting materials for your story.
